Shanghai 5 heads back to the studio to work with producer Earl Harvin:
Musician and friend, Earl Harvin is currently producing our next record. Rehearsal with Earl has already evolved our next batch of songs into something better. Not only does he have a great ear, but is a good mediator for the band.
Today's our first day in the studio, 10am(early for us). We'll be tracking the whole band, focusing on drum and bass. Earl's touring with Air next week, but we're finishing the record via file sharing and fedex. Should be a interesting process of building tracks, mixing, and putting together a recording like this.
Shanghai 5's playing new songs and showing how the record's coming along at Apple Store-Northpark, April 28th, 5pm.
About EARL HARVIN
Earl Harvin is a New York area native who took up residence in Texas, later Los Angeles, and now lives in Berlin, Germany. He began his musical endeavors studying orchestral percussion at age 9. Later, he briefly attended the highly acclaimed jazz department of the University of North Texas where he was a member of the One o'Clock jazz big band for one year. He soon discovered that Dallas was full of gigs and great musicians and began playing with several local jazz and rock bands including the late, great James Clay, the ecelctic Ten Hands, Billygoat, and his own noise-rock band Rubberbullet. After a few years he was enlisted to play in MC 900 foot Jesus, an international cult favorite based in Dallas. With the exposure this afforded he was soon in demand in the studio and live by many top name artists and producers including SEAL, theTHE, the PSYCHELDELIC FURS, TREVOR HORN, CRAIG STREET, the ART OF NOISE, the FRAMES, JOE HENRY, RICHARD THOMPSON, and most recently the French band AIR.
