Art is in the air

The DFW art scene is bursting at the seams this week. Even if you are not an art buff, there is an event for you -- probably even in your neighborhood. First on the list is Plein Air Texas 2007, where you can watch artists as they put brush to canvas. The event goes through Saturday, with an exhibit at the Southwest Gallery in North Dallas to wrap it up.

The 22nd annual Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival starts Thursday in Sundance Square. There will be live music, a film festival and, of course, art galore.

The White Rock Home Tour and Arts Festival features local artists and modern homes, and doubles as a benefit for Hexter Elementary School.

For the kids, The Dallas Contemporary is hosting a Family Art Day in conjunction with the DADA Spring Gallery walk.

This should be interesting: Mechanical Womb. In addition to the obvious randomness and oddness of a baby making machine, apparently reception attendants will receive complimentary baby arms. I don't even know what to say about that. Maybe leave the kids at home for this one??

And finally, there is the Dallas Art Dealer Association Spring Gallery Walk. Go to their official site for a map, because you will probably want to plan what area you want to start in. All the galleries will pretty much have a big to-do, this art talk sounds pretty interesting, and the Bath House Cultural Center is also hosting their Spring Art Mart.

Looks like I forgot one, sorry guys! There is a studio tour this weekend in Oak Cliff that looks pretty cool.
