The Dallas Theater Center officially opens the last show of their season, The Taming of the Shrew on Tuesday, April 24. However, from April 18-22 they are offering previews which give you the chance to see the show at a great bargain price.
For regular people (i.e. adults), the previews range from $15-53. But if you are a college kid, the tickets are only $12 for all the previews, and you can call 214-252-3924 to reserve your seat. On the Sunday evening preview at 7:30 p.m., the tickets are pay-what-you-can for anyone. For these, you should show up 30 minutes before the show and purchase a ticket at the Box Office with a donation.
And that's not even all they are offering! Since it is Richard Hamburger's final production as Dallas Theater Center's Artistic Director, they are offering Buy One, Get One Free tickets for performances April 18-April 26th. To do this, enter the promotion code BOGO when selecting seats online. Prices shown will then be reduced to 50% off, so redeem in multiples of two.
Richard Hamburger is going to give the early Shakespearean comedy about the battle-of-the-sexes a modern, absurdist take. Petruchio goes to Padua to acquire a wife with a bountiful dowry, but finds the shrewish, catty opponent, Kate. Mary Bacon will be playing the shrew, while Jonno Roberts will be making his Dallas Theater Center debut as Petruchio. He most recently starred in the film The Elephant King with Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn.
Call the box office at 214-522-8499 or purchase tickets online. Call 214-252-3924 for group discounts of 10 or more.
