Lee Elementary educator named BEAM Teacher of the Year
Yolanda Saucedo, first grade bilingual teacher at Lee Elementary School, has been named the Bilingual Education Association of the Metroplex (BEAM) Teacher of the Year. She was recently honored at an awards ceremony.
She has been a teacher for 24 years with 19 years as a member of the Lee staff.
She was the first to initiate the Bilingual Education Program at Lee 17 years ago. Prior to joining the Lee staff in 1988, she was an English as a Second Language teacher in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district for one year. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2003 and was named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 2002 and 2006.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. She is a member of the National and Texas Reading Associations and Texas State Teachers Association. She currently serves on the EXPO Gifted and Talented Committee and the Educational Improvement Council.
