So you really want to see Wicked because it is the musical everyone is talking about, but you can't shelve out over $50 bucks for one ticket or you would rather not sit a mile from the stage. Well, the Dallas Summer Musicals is offering a great deal before every performance of the show.
A day-of-performance lottery will be held allowing patrons to have a chance to win the "best available seats" for only 25 bucks a piece. The number of seats available depends on how packed the performance is, but they say usually about 20 seats are open for the lottery.
Here is how it works: 2.5 hours before the performance, you must show up at the Music Hall at Fair Park (with ID) and fill out a form that will go into a bucket. You can only ask for a maximum of two tickets on the slip of paper. 30 minutes later or 2 hours before the performance, the lottery is drawn and the winners claim their tickets, which can only be paid in cash.
Fellow co-worker Laura S. and I can vouch that this lottery is freakin' fantastic, because not only did a few people show up for the lottery, but we sat 2 rows from the stage, only paying $25 a ticket. Note that in other cities, lines for the lottery have had hundreds of people in it, so I am not guaranteeing that only a few people will show up for the rest of the run.
Wicked runs until May 6, and for more info on show times and dates, click here.
