Texas Wesleyan’s Jason Diaz named RRAC Player of the Week
For the second time this season Texas Wesleyan University’s Jason Diaz has been selected as Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week. Diaz shared the honor with Houston Baptist’s Ryan Majewski for the period of April 9-15.
Diaz, a senior third baseman from Fort Worth, TX, drove in nine runs and scored nine times in a 7-1 week for the 15th ranked Rams. He finished the week on a 13-for-20 clip, accounting for at least one RBI in each of his last seven games. In a three-game series with Southwestern Assemblies of God University (TX) this weekend, he racked up seven hits, scored six times and drove in five runs. In addition, he was 9-for-11 in stolen base attempts for the week. Texas Wesleyan remained unbeaten in conference play at 12-0 and lifted its overall record to 32-6.
Majewski, a junior outfielder from Brenham, TXs, was 13-for-23 hitting in a 4-2 week for the Huskies. HBU is second in the RRAC South Division at 7-3 with a record of 28-15 on the season.
