The Door Dallas moving to Gypsy Tea Room building
In case you hadn't heard, it seems The Door Dallas is moving into the old Gypsy Tea Room building. Check out Sam's report for some more details about the move and the Doors' eccentric owner Russell Hobbs. In the meantime, here's the post from the Door Dallas' official website:
The Door in Dallas is moving to Main and Good Latimer into the former Gypsy Tea Room space. We did not want to move but our present building is being bulldozed to make way for condos. We are excited to have a new home to continue bringing you the best touring bands and provide a stage for new up and coming musical artists in an all ages format.
Improvements will be made to the existing "Ball Room" to raise the capacity for all ages shows. The "Tea Room" will become a 21-up live music saloon with beer, wine and food service, with an eclectic booking policy.
21-up live music saloon with beer and wine? So you're saying I can go to a section of a Door venue and not have to run into people like this? Sweet Jesus, thank you Mr. Hobbs, you crazy so-and-so.
