Texas Wesleyan softball wins 7th straight

The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (19-28) improved to 12-10 in Red River Athletic Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader from Texas College (4-19-1, 2-14 RRAC). The Lady Rams took game one 6-1 and game two 11-4.

Angel Castro went 4-for-4 in game two.

In game one, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the third when Rachel Bachelder singled, stole second, and scored on a double from Brooke McNabb.

Texas College tied the game with three consecutive singles in the sixth, but the Rams exploded for five runs in a seventh inning that was highlighted by RBI doubles from McNabb and Maddie Williams.

Ashley Oldham (8-8) retired the first 16 hitters she faced and got the win after allowing one run on six hits in seven innings of work. McNabb led the way at the plate by going 2-for-4 with two RBI, two doubles, a run scored, and a stolen base.

In game two, the Rams batted around in each of the first two innings score six runs on five hits in the first and four runs on six hits in the second.

The Steers scored one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth, but never threatened the Rams lead.

Tara Sharp (6-2) earned the win after allowing one run on one hit in three innings of relief.

Angel Castro went 4-for-4 with four singles. McNabb added two more hits in game two while Ariel Raley and Williams collected a pair of hits as well.

The Lady Rams return to the field on Thursday when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Sycamore Park. Game one is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
