Mockingbird Station has announced that the ground breaking for its new third phase of mixed-use development will be held April 26 at 10:45. (Apparently, 10:30 or 11:00 was no good for some big shot from MS management or United Commercial Realty).

The new developments, scheduled for completion in early 2008, will bring an additional 23,000 square feet of retail and restaurant square footage along with a two-level parking garage directly behind the new development.

Interestingly, the official press announcement alleges that, during the roughly-eight month construction job, "Mockingbird Station will be offering complementary valet parking to all guests."

I guess that's cool.

Funny, considering there are retail spaces in Mockingbird Station that have never been filled, and spaces like Chaucer's old spot or Noodles Kitchen's spot, which have been empty for over a year. Wonder what makes them think they can fill more empty space?

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
