Obituary: Former Dallas County Judge Karen Greene
DALLAS We just heard the sad news that former Dallas County District 282 Judge Karen J. Greene died of breast cancer early today at the age of 50.
Karen also served as executive director of the Criminal Justice Division within the Office of the Governor during the Bush Administration and received calls from George W Bush and Alberto Gonzales this week.
I knew Karen because her husband, John Council is a senior editor at Texas Lawyer (my last gig before this). She was a bright, energetic soul who fought valiantly against cancer, both personally and through Gilda's Club and by simply talking to recently diagnosed members of the local legal community.
Memorial donations may be made to Gilda's Club North Texas.
The Memorial Service will be at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas on Wednesday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
