Dallas Baptist women’s golfers honored by Heartland Conference for 2007
Freshman Heather Wilbur, from Georgetown, Texas has been named to the First Team All-Heartland Conference Team and Co-Freshman of the Year for the Conference for her play during the 2007 season.
Freshman Heather Wilbur, from Georgetown, Texas has been named to the First Team All-Heartland Conference Team and Co-Freshman of the Year for the Conference for her play during the 2007 season.
Wilbur, who steadily improved all season and led the young talented women's team showed her abilities at the 2007 Heartland Conference Tournament. Wilbur finished the tournament in fourth place and with All-Tournament honors.
For the season, Wilbur averaged a 79.94 per round, had a team best 73 for lowest round, and was second to only Junior Jamie Shirley in low total round score with a 151.
Shirley was also honored for her play by being named Second Team All-Heartland Conference. Shirley, who consistently played with Wilbur during the season, averaged an 81.44 per round, shot a season low 73, and holds the school record for lowest total round when she shot a 147 at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, which earned her second place.
Head Coach Kenny Trapp, who is in his second full season as the Head Coach, has help develop a very competitive Women's Team at DBU. Trapp for his outstanding leadership during the 2007 season has been named Co- Women's Coach of the Year for the Heartland Conference.
The Lady Patriots finished the season with a third place finish at the Conference tournament, which is a school best and set numerous school records throughout the season with their strong play.
Trapp stated, "This is by far the best season we have had at DBU and I know we are on the right path with the Women's program. Heather and Jamie are both deserving of these honors because of their great work ethic and strong play. I know the future holds great things for our program."
