I love Clay Aiken, too, and I most definitely plan to be at this event. Clay is extremely talented, classy, handsome, and hilariously funny. He puts on a wonderful show. I have to ask, though, what is up with the picture of Clay and Tori, and why on earth would you use such a caption to promote Clay's concert? In this photo from the AMA's, Tori and Clay were poking fun at a stupid incident that has nothing to do with Clay's concert in Frisco. Tori helped him show that he can laugh at himself. Plus, why would you want him silenced? I think this picture -- and, even moreso, the caption -- are in extremely poor taste. If it was intended as a joke, I certainly don't get it. It should be removed and replaced with one of the many hundreds of excellent photos of Clay Aiken. The people in the Frisco area should be thrilled that Clay is coming to town. I certainly am.

The Freedom Fest sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate our nations birthday . In spite of the juvenile slap given to the singer who will be performing , ( Way to go to promote this event ! I'm sure that Frisco and Pizza Hut Park are thrilled with this childish reporter . ) , my family and some out-of-state friends will be there for the fun , the game , the beautiful music and the fantastic fireworks .

I don't get your comment under the picture! Clay Aiken is a fabulous entertainer and the venue is lucky to get him. Anyone that is fortunate enough to be able to see his show will have a great time. Are you supporting this event, or not?

Lest anyone think that we've hordes of closet Clayniacs in our user base, these all look to be new folks sent here from the Clayversity.org forum. (I registered, but still couldn't get to the post.)

And to our new friends from the Claysite: Since you're new to our site, you probably don't realize that we're not singling out Clay. We tend to make light of a lot of things, like a localized Daily Show.

As far as "supporting the event" goes, that's not our job. We're a local news site for Dallas / Fort Worth, and we ran the release on the event for informational purposes and spiced it up with a jokey photo caption. We don't work for Frisco, FC Dallas or anyone else.

Unlike many news sites, we encourage our community to contribute through open comments as you are doing here, and our community sometimes lets us know when we've crossed the line.

While I'm not personally a fan of Clay Aiken's music, from seeing him on TV I have a respect for the sense of humor he has about himself. I hope the same can be said of his fans.

We get that y'all don't like our caption. Duly noted. But especially if you live around here, check around the site a bit before you start hatin'.

OOps, I forgot............... Is It July 4th, Yet????

I also agree that the caption below the picture of Clay and Tori is offensive. The first thing I thought when I read it was, "Sounds like Frisco doesn't want him there". Shame on whoever decided to caption that picture. What's up with the choices you made?

Thanks Mike Orren, I've just got to say, that thinking we are hating, is not correct. I've never been to Texas, and have been looking forward to it. Seriously though, as an 'out of stater', I have been all excited knowing I'm going to come to your great state, but whether a fan of Clay or not, as soon as I read that caption, my view of Frisco, Texas, took a downward turn. Sorry. I came to this site because of the google alert. I will give your site a second look, and check out your satire, now that you've explained it well. Thanks!!!

Another thing the Clayniacs should check out while you're here. In Dallas, we have our own Clay:

http://www.pegasusnews.com/bands/clay...

Give him a listen. Great musician and great guy.

This made me think of Clay P. because when I let Itunes automagically add album covers to my library, it put Clay Aiken in for all of Clay P's stuff.

Now that is funny!!!! Thanks for the link, Mike. Not a bad website you have here. You're right, I'm sure Clay would smile at your caption. He does have a tendency to take the potshots at him, a lot easier than we fans do at times. To us, it just seems so unfair that it is always directed his way. The Man deserves the utmost respect.

""Pop-singer Clay Aiken and the Symphony will perform on the Pizza Hut Park stage approximately 30 minutes following the end of the game""

Does this mean that Clay will sing for 30 minutes or he will sing 30 minutes after the game is over? Any copy editors at this paper?

Mr Orren,

Let's get real here.

You made a not very nice comment about Clay Aiken's voice and you received some responses to your comment stating we didn't like your comments.

You then felt the need to post and defend your article. How does that differ from Clay's fans who are defending him against the negative post from you ?

Obviously you didn't like your article being seen as a negative towards Clay. You thought it was funny to put that caption under the pic of Clay and Tori but not so funny when people didn't like your writing.

Double standard here ?

You received some negative comments about your writing skills. How would you like those sort of comments day in and day out for the next 4 or 5 years ?

This is what Clay goes through everyday and has for the last 4 or 5 years. Not very pleasant is it ?

It gets a little tiring seeing this kind of so called journalism about Clay everyday.

Why not be a bigger person and stop ragging on a guy who is just trying to do the best he can with his career and his life.

I'm sorry but I'm not interested in checking out the rest of your site. My first experience here was not a pleasant one.

You insulted a man who I am a fan of and you insulted me as a fan.

I hope you take a closer look at your values as a writer. Is this all that you expect from your writing skills ?

Any idiot can write gossip and nasty articles, it takes someone with integrity and wisdom to write a well informed and unbiased column based on facts and not one's personal opinion.

All that was needed in your article is the fact that Clay Aiken is performing at the Pizza Hut Park, not your interpretation of his singing voice.

Why writers always feel the need to rag on someone is beyond me. Maybe insecurity issues with themselves

I too was annoyed with the caption under the picture. As a Texan I felt embarrassed that people from other states are going to read that caption and feel like Clay is not welcome here.

Clay gets far too many jabs aimed at him by people who have never even heard him sing and know nothing about what he stands for. Good grief, give the guy a break! He has an exceptional voice, an excellent sense of humor, is a UNICEF ambassador and also founded an organization to benefit children with intellectual disabilities.

My sense of humor is firmly intact but that caption just wasn't funny. I understand that you take jabs at everybody but why not make an exception in this case? Clay just doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.

I'm not hatin, as you put it, but I am disappointed.

Wendy, to answer your question, last year when it was Kool and the Gang they waited 30 minutes after the game ended before the band took the stage. I think this was to give them time to set up and to let the fans find different seats or something. I am not 100% sure because I was with a bunch my young soccer students who didn't really care to stick around, but I believe that is what was meant by 30 minutes after the game.

Clay Aiken represents the kind of wholesome enterntainment that this country needs and wants. His voice is so beautiful!!! I can't wait to see him in Frisco and am so excited Clay is coming to town!!!

As for you haters who want to hate on Clay, I think you should put on his music and listen!! His message is one of acceptance but also fun.

[[[ I certainly hope you venture waaaaaay beyond Frisco. Frisco isn't a good representation of Texas whatsoever]]]

I am going also to Houston for the second concert!! I really am not liking the Pegasus/Frisco attitude, after checking out this whole website, I found 'zero' other articles, or picture captions of anyone being slammed, or as the staff puts it, ' satire'. Just the Tori/Clay picture. Feels like a definate bias exists on this site, and if it represents Frisco, it will be a straight shot on to Houston, where I'm sure Clay will be appreciated for his talents. You really should think next time that your 'satire' and negativity is being viewed by tourists, who like to spend their money when visiting. Pegasus staff- Shame on YOUR lack of respect, and good manners. Defend away............You Blew It!!!!

Pegasus people, don't waste your time on these idiots. I've written about Clay Aiken for other publications before, and no matter what you say, you will be innundated with hate mail from these lifeless losers. They don't understand that this was the least important thing you will post on your site today and that these funny captions that don't pick on anyone more than anyone else are a big reason we all read here instead of the Dallas Morning Snooze or the Startlegram. Both of whom wrote nothing about Clay Aiken today.

I actually like Aiken's music, but my concert review was not fawning enough, so I got letters, emails and even one call at home.

I've never seen such an immature group of lifeless morons. And I've seen a lot. Aiken would have been better off if he didn't come up through the Idol machine that breeds this sort of crap.

I'm flying in from Detroit, MI, for this show (also Houston and Tulsa). I've seen Clay 18 times in concert and he's amazing!! Believe me, you won't want Tori Spelling there at all, LOL. If she was, she'd be screaming for Clay anyway. :) I'm counting down the days! If you haven't seen Clay in concert, do yourself a huge favor and go see him. You won't be disappointed. CLAY ROCKS!!!

Mr. Orren: How would you feel if people were constantly making fun of this Clay P that you like or his music? I personally don't understand the need by people such as yourself to take potshots at Clay. Celebs such as Britney, Paris, etc. seek attention and do crazy things so maybe I can understand when people make fun of them. Clay was looking to start a career of teaching and working with autistic children when someone pushed for him to try out for AI. Keep in mind this was just it's second season and he probably didnt realize the media attention he would receive by the end of the show. Clay is a celebrity now and wants to use his celebrity and talent to highlight causes he believes in. His fans are very excited that now that he recently returned from a trip to Afghanistan as a Unicef Ambassador, he is gearing up to tour again. As we have seen too often it seems, some kids who are bullied when they are young do not handle it well. I am grateful that Clay, who still gets bullied to this day by persons such as yourself, does handle it well. Maybe if you attend the concert you will see for yourself why his fans love him.

Totally unnecessary to include the nasty comment beneath the ridiculous picture.

Clay Aiken deserves far more respect than he gets from people like you. Why not pick on someone who deserves a slam or two???

He is just too good natured, and, thankfully, confident in his phenomenal singing ability to pay attention to little guys doing a desk job in Texas. Still, I hurt for him, as you people are relentless.

I will be at this concert with bells on, but have a bad taste in my mouth before even leaving town!!!

What a stupid way to draw people in for a show!!!! One would think he was a terrible performer, when just the opposite is true.

YOU were not JOKING, by the way. You were just jumping on the band wagon, looking for laughs from the jealous meanies.

Incidentally, we are NOT low lifes. The majority of us are college graduates, with full lives, who appreciate real talent and good human beings. Clay is one of them.

I am a native of Texas, though I do not currently reside in the state.

When I read such poorly constructed articles such as this one, it hurts me that such a bad impression is being given to the country about my home state.

Texas is really a great state, full of wonderful, friendly people. Unfortunately, there are in Texas, as everywhere, small people who delight in tearing down someone else under the guise of 'humor'.

There is no call for this regarding Clay Aiken or any other entertainer who comes to town.

I don't know which is more depressing, the idea that someone would judge the entire state of Texas for a photo caption or the idea that someone would actually feel the need to defend the entire state of Texas because of a photo caption.

Come on, guys, it is a joke. J-O-K-E. I'm sure Clay himself would think nothing of it.

When people ask what our politics are, I generally say that we're "equal opportunity offenders." Lord knows this isn't the first time we've raised anyone's ire, but it is only the second time, out of literally tens of thousands of items, that we've been compelled to end the conversation by shutting down comments on an item (which we've just done).

The other time was related to the NY Mets. Perhaps the answer to maintaining both open and substantive comments is to block nonlocal IPs. We've covered forced evictions from homes and city hall scandals without this sort of thing happening.

Aikeniacs, your copy-paste tirades that indicate that you haven't even read the piece or the thread above do nothing to help your man's cause. People might want to give Clay's music a chance if they didn't run the risk of encountering such thin-skinned and paranoid fans.

Before you start emailing me claiming hypocrisy in calling people thin-skinned as I shut down comments, I'll note that the proprietors of the main Clay Aiken message boards who sent everyone here wouldn't even let us see the posts that started this. And we haven't deleted a single one of these comments -- nor will we. But there's nothing new and substantive being added and most of our users come here for local info -- which means we can't waste any more time monitoring this fray.

I hope y'all enjoy the concert in Frisco. Now we're going to get back to the business of annoying our local customers instead of a bunch of message board trolls.

I'll leave you with a Clay Aiken video from a performance in our fair city. He sings with "Leanne," an SMU student from Plano who auditioned before the show to join him.
