It used to be that when commuters went back and forth to work on Central Expressway between Woodall Rodgers Freeway and Mockingbird Lane, their day could be brightened by a bit of green shrubbery along the median. Not anymore. All plant life has been removed from that strip of the expressway. There are more plans to remove any other plant life that has been allowed to grow along the entirety of Central Expressway. Officials blame this removal process on the complications of long-term maintenance to keep the greenery looking nice.

Karaoke Oh yeah, you know you wanna belt it out like you're alone in the car. The microphone beckons. What else do you have to do on a Monday night? I mean besides watching football? If this is a bit far from your neighborhood, don't worry. There is a karaoke machine near you just waiting. More info

Maybe cactus or kudzu or some other durable but low maintenance green stuff would be better than trees?

Why pay to remove it then? Just let it die instead.

According to the story i saw they are only looking to reduce their cost by 250,000 dollars. Why not get corporate sponsor and add a few context sensitive signs along the road in exchange for the support.
how are we going to maintain huge trinity park if we can't afford 250,000 to keep our front door looking good.

This "unusual idea" sounds pretty good to me and it comes from some dude named Dallas Hanks. Nimrod mayoral candidates get on it.

Rick Perry's construction buddies wanted to show that they could make a really nice freeway, really fast.
But like with most other GOP programs, this one's benefits turned out to be prohibitively expensive, unsustainable, and very short-lived.
Still - the continue to get lucrative contracts to build more so-called freeways, most of which end up being cop-free toll-roads... and eyesores
