Councilwoman Angela Hunt is leading a group called TrinityVote that filed paperwork to start a petition this morning.
Councilwoman Angela Hunt is leading a group called TrinityVote that filed paperwork to start a petition this morning. If TrinityVote gets enough signatures, they could force a citywide referendum regarding whether or not to build the planned tollroad in flood plains of the Trinity River Corrider. The group now has 60 days to collect signatures from at least 10% of registered voters in Dallas.

If every person that reads Pegasus in Dallas signs the petition, we'd have almost enough to put this on the ballot.

I signed the petition outside an early voting location and encourage everyone else to do the same!

A few things to say about this:
1) Don't believe lies that TrinityVote and Ms Hunt's effort are efforts to derail the trinity project. The TrinityVote project is an effort to give voters the opportunity to actually have a voice in the huge changes proposed to the Trinity project.
2) Don't believe the lies that the voters have already voted on this. They have not. What is being proposed now, besides being awful, is a far cry from what voters approved long ago. It is not in the long term interests of Dallas. It will be outrageously costly beyond what the voters originally voted for. It contains a toll road in a floodable area that will almost certainly flood according to the Corps of Engineers where none like has been built anywhere in the U.S. It will take away at least 1/3 of the park land and place a noisy tollroad right next to that park making much more unusable. The voters did not vote for that.
3) The effort against TrinityVote is an anti-democratic effort. They are saying, in effect, don't give the voters a direct voice in an issue. Let the special interests and big money that can buy city and county politics have control is the message of the anti-vote crowd.
4) Lee Cullum went on KERA this morning and lied about this. He stated exactly what he he knows isnt true. That is, he said that the TrinityVote project is aims at stopping the Trinity project. I would urge you to call KERA's comment line and leave a message urging them to let Angela Hunt have equal airtime to counter Cullum's lies. The number is 214-740-9338. You can leave a recorded message saying that you simply think Angela Hunt and TrinityVote ought to have equal time.
Thanks
J

I just received a Vote No Save the Trinity flyer in the mail. I notice it did not mention one thing about putting in a toll road in the new park, nor did it say how much the tolls would be on the road, nor did it say exactly how this toll road is going to relieve traffic congestion.
Had I not Googled Angela Hunt, Trinity river, I would not have known she is actually against putting this toll road in, which is a the opinion I support. "Save the Trinity"? Yeah right. If you want this city to ever be consider anything close to world class, you'll vote YES on November 6th.
