This is the 3rd year for this high school playwriting competition presented by both, Circle Theatre and Fort Worth Theatre. From 3 different schools, 58 plays were submitted and then narrowed down to 4 finalists.
This finalists now get the opportunity to perform their work as a staged reading on May 6 at 3:00 p.m. at Circle Theatre. Actors from the DFW metroplex will perform while Joe Brown, Justin Flowers and Scott Hardgrove direct. The event is free and a reception honoring the students and their teachers will follow the performance. Call 817-877-3040 to get more info or reserve seating.
The finalists are:
- Leap of Faith by Chris Cole and Jake Alford of Trinity Valley School
- Sherlock Holmes & The Scourge of Paris by Glen Hall of Fort Worth Country Day School
- Hey Mister by Annalee Hurst of Fort Worth Country Day School
- What's Left of Me by Andras Bodolai of Haltom High School
In addition to the performance, students will receive trophies and complimentary theater tickets, while teachers get $100 to be used for class.
