Southlake-based Travelocity sees flights and fares up from 2006
SOUTHLAKE More people are flying, both internationally and domestically, Travelocity says, and costs are up, too.
Early predictions show that pricing is up 3.7 percent on international flights, and up 3.8 percent on domestic flights over 2006.
More travelers are hitting the Caribbean, where flights are up by 22 percent. Flights to Asia are up 17 percent, Central America 14 percent, and South America up 7 percent.
Travel to Europe is down: Western Europe is down 2 percent, and Eastern Europe, down 15 percent.
The most popular destinations for summer include Las Vegas, Orlando, New York city, South Florida, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Honolulu, and Chicago. To save money, travelers are shortening their stay by 4 percent.
