The Rangers seemed to benefit from a younger lineup.

The Texas Rangers improved to 2-0 in the post-Teixeira era, scoring three runs in the top of the tenth to beat the Indians 9-6 in Cleveland Wednesday night. Despite a shaky start by newcomer John Rheineker, who gave up six runs in just over four innings, the bullpen held together and pitched five and two-thirds scoreless innings to allow the hitters a chance to win the game.

With six starters in the lineup under 30 years of age (and the other three no older than 33), the Rangers played tightly to first-year manager Ron Washington's small-ball gameplan, and managed to score 9 runs without a single home run. Newcomer Jarrod Saltalamacchia, acquired from Atlanta in the Teixeira trade, went 1-for-5 with two RBI.
