National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship returns to Lewisville Sept. 27-29
Event will determine the 2007 national champs.
LEWISVILLE Fox College Sports and the National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship return to Lewisville Lake September 27-29, culminating an expanded schedule of preliminary events to determine the 2007 national champions.
A two-person team from North Carolina State University captured last year's inaugural championship held October 19-21, also at Lewisville Lake. Taped highlights from the event appeared on Fox College Sports throughout January.
“We’re pleased to showcase college bass fishing to a national audience," said FCS Executive VP & GM David Rone. "We had a great response from the tournament held in October in Texas, and we’re looking forward to giving these students a national platform to display their skills.”
Mayor Gene Carey said he's pleased that FOX is bringing the collegiate championship back to Lewisville, calling it "further proof that Lewisville Lake is a great fishing spot."
Practice days will be Monday-Wednesday, September 24-26, with the competition starting at dawn Thursday. The full field will compete on Thursday and Friday, and the top five teams will decide the championship on Saturday. Tournament launches and 3 p.m. weigh-ins will be held each day at Sneaky Pete’s Resort in Lewisville. For information, call (972) 434-2500.
