Nelnet paid UTA alumni association $62,000 to pitch its loan consolidation services
The contract has not been renewed, but over the previous three years Nelnet paid the University of Texas at Arlington Alumni Association a flat rate of $62,000 to pitch Nelnet loan consolidation services to recent graduates. UTA gave Nelnet a list of its members and advertised the company on the alumni website. Nelnet's practices are currently being investigated by the office of New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
