Fort Worth City Council to vote on alcohol-free areas near homeless shelters
The Fort Worth City Council tonight will consider whether or not to create alcohol-free zones around homeless shelters in the city. While some believe this could be an initial step in helping the problem of public intoxication around Lancaster Avenue, others are not so sure. The critics say that just taking away the nearest alcohol provider will not get at the root of the problem for many of Fort Worth's homeless citizens. Other cities with similar alcohol bans have shown no sign of improvement after the change took place.
