Button collectors currently convening at Hotel InterContinental
DALLAS Button collectors, button dealers, and even casual button fans are having a National button Society Convention, Friday and Saturday, August 10-11, at the Hotel InterContinental. Waltrina Stovall, former DMN dining critic and a veteran antiques dealer and collector, does a cool story noting that the convention will attract folks from the U.S., Canada, and Europe; that only buttons made before 1918 are antiques; that buttons can be made from glass, pearl, Bakelite, metal, or ivory; and that buttons are the third or fourth most popular collectible, ranking with dolls after stamps and coins.
