Creepy guy giving headaches to The Fellow Americans

I found this little story about a stalkerish figure bothering the local band, The Fellow Americans, to be rather hilarious in a sad sort of way.

There is a guy calling himself "Deejay Andrews" who is posting flyers at the coffee shops and clubs in Fort Worth offering his availability as a vocalist. We had contacted him a month ago, but after speaking to him (actually more like a 45 minute diatribe of him rambling about how punk he is, how much he sounds and acts like Jim Morrison and Iggy Pop, and claiming he was on "American Bandstand" lip-syncing to someone else's song... you know, the whole "I could have been a contender" spiel) and after he mailed us a package of all of his flyers in bands he's been in and a letter full of anti-establishment cliches, we said "no thanks". He still asked for our cd and sent $10. A couple of days later he calls and has a tantrum, acting like a little 13 year old whose parents won't let him stay up late. Definitely not impressive for someone who is pushing 60, but then again, he's sticking it to the man by being a career pool cleaner.

A week has passed and I receive a letter from Deejay, manically thanking me for sending the cd and stating he would like to come out to our next show (apparently he so punk rock that he refuses to use email and rebels against the establishment by purchasing postage). Something isn't right with this guy...

I guess he came out to the Wreck Room show last Saturday because my friend, Bryan, showed me Deejay's flier that was handed to him. I also received another package from him today in the mail which contained our wrapped cd and letter which stated:

"Fellow Americans,

Not digging the trio thing at all. No offense is intended, it just sounds forced. While I agree that your former singer was a bit weak, you seem to have lost your Stooges/Sabbath sound. You sound less punk. Glad you got rid of the flower child, but you should really think about another singer. Now you just sound like Nu Metal.

I don't know if you've ever heard of him but the guy that would be perfect for you guys is Deejay Andrews aka Dirty Waters. He's sort of like the Dallas Iggy Pop. Used to play Deep Ellum a lot back in the day. He runs some pool business over in Fort Worth now. You should check him out.

I'm not really sure I want this tape. Can you guys send me my $10 back? Thanks, and keep hanging in there. I'm sure you'll get it down soon.

A.G. Smith"

Talk about sour grapes. What's pathetic is that he is posing as someone else in this letter. Total loser.

Matt

Oh, and by the way, if you are reading this A.G.- oops, I mean Deejay- what I sent you and what I received back was a cd, not a tape. Since you asked for $10 back for a tape, there's nothing I can do to help you.

Chris Bender, says:

Hillarious. I saw that flyer on a table at the Wreck that night and wondered why the heck would someone want you to send them a letter snail mail if they are looking for a band?
