USO DFW receives Meadows Foundation Grant

0

— The Meadows Foundation recently presented a $72,000 grant to the USO of Dallas/Fort Worth. This private philanthropic institution helps the people and institutions of Texas improve the quality and circumstances of life for themselves and future generations. This grant will help provide food to the more than 135,000 troops USO-DFW serves annually, many of whom are transitioning to and from Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas locations.

"The USO is the way for Americans to support the troops, and this grant helps us provide top-quality programs and services to men and women in uniform in the Dallas-Fort Worth area," stated Edward A. Powell, USO president and CEO.

Located in the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, USO-DFW has served the military community since 2004. The 2,900-square-foot facility offers free Internet and e-mail access, an entertainment lounge with a 50" plasma screen TV, a relaxing sleeping room, complete with fountain and recliners and a game loft with foosball tables and video gaming consoles. The center also features a children's play area and cafe.

"The Meadows Foundation is pleased to support the brave men and women who pass through our airport on their way to and from defending freedom around the world," said Foundation president and CEO Linda Perryman Evans. "We honor their courage and dedication with this grant," Evans added.
