Lawsuit against SMU reveals campaign for the Bush library started in 2001
DALLAS Testimony from an ongoing lawsuit between Southern Methodist University and an on-campus condominium complex reveals that SMU started its campaign to get the Bush presidential library as far back as 2001.
Billionaire Ray Hunt first suggested SMU to Bush in early 2001 after a private dinner in the White House family quarters, according to the documents, which were obtained by the DMN from a lawsuit involving land that may be used for the library. The suit was filed against SMU by ousted owners of a condominium complex that was next to SMU, who contend that SMU forced them out to make way for the library.
