Fellow electronic journo Lucas Grindley emailed us this morning with a reminder that there was free access to the IBISEYE tracking tool. It shows the path and forecast for all named storms.

Realizing that the hurricane won't hit the Trinity, it still has a big impact on the DF-dub:

Interestingly, none of the weather maps I have looked at this morning, including this one http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graph... show Dean coming anywhere close to Texas. If you have a tripped planned to Cozumel this week, though, you might want to think twice about hopping aboard your FunJet Vacations B-727.

True that, Kirk. But if he takes one of those crazy turns like on Chad's map, he might be in the middle of your living room yawping for your vote.
Meantime, there are residual effects and sidestorms that have already created a Dallas County flood warning for today:
Dallas

The Flood Warning continues for the Elm Fork of the Trinity near Carrollton. Until further notice . At 815 am Sunday the stage was 8.15 feet. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 8.0 feet. Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 8.2 feet by Sunday afternoon. Additional rises may be possible thereafter. At 8 feet minor flooding will occur downstream from the gage.

Mike:
I think you'll find that Dallas County has been under a flood warning (at least on NOAA) for more than three weeks. It has to do with water being released upstream, rather than the accumulation of precipitation in this area. Definitely not from a hurricane that is currently more than 1,000 miles from our area.
