Allen Open Golf Tournament To Benefit Scholarship Fund
ALLEN, Texas ─ The 2nd annual Allen Open Golf Tournament, hosted by Allen ISD Transportation, tees off Saturday, Sept. 22 at Chase Oaks Golf Club in Allen. All proceeds will benefit the Superintendent’s Scholarship Fund.
The event will be a four-man scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Participants can enter their own foursome or twosome. Single players are welcome and will be placed on a team with available spots or grouped with other singles.
"The golf tournament was designed to do three things. To raise scholarship funds for the students of Allen ISD, to offer the school district and Allen community the opportunity to meet people they might not have met otherwise and to raise awareness to the community that transportation is a vital working part of our community,” said AISD Director of Transportation Carl Cater.
The transportation team at Allen ISD has always tried to be a leader in the community organizing and participating in many events and activities such as “Fill the Bus” and the Can Food Drive.
“Last year was the first year for the Superintendent Scholarship Golf Tournament,” said Cater. “Transportation was able to donate $1,250 to the Foundation For Allen Schools in the name of Dr. Ken Helvey, Allen ISD Superintendent of Schools.”
The entry fee is $75-per-player that includes green fees, cart, range balls and a hamburger lunch. Mulligans will be sold for $10 each with a maximum of four per team.
Hole-in-One, Closest-to-the-Pin and Longest Drive individual prizes will be awarded in addition to prize drawings and a silent auction. Trophies will be awarded to the lowest three teams. This year the tournament committee has added a putting contest for ladies with a prize for the winner.
Payment must be received no later than September 15 to avoid a late entry fee of $85-per-player.
Players paying the day of the tournament will be charged a $100-per-player entry fee.
A growing list of sponsors adds to the excitement of this year’s tournament. The list includes: PGA Golf Superstore, Ping Golf, Coca-Cola, Fossil Watches, Aramark, Dallas Golf, The Shores Country Club, Frisco Roughriders, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dallas Stars, New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey, Avid Golf Magazine, and Southwest International.
