Keller ISD convocation ceremonies welcome 340 new teachers

On Tuesday, August 21, Keller ISD will welcome more than 340 new teachers to the district at this year's three convocation ceremonies. The district will also top 3,000 employees - a milestone that ranks Keller ISD as one of the leading employers in Tarrant County.

Welcome, teachers, to your new offices. Wifi, swivel chair, inescapable feeling that you're failing the children.

Welcome, teachers, to your new offices. Wifi, swivel chair, inescapable feeling that you're failing the children.

"Keller ISD is one of the fastest growing employers in the DFW metroplex," said Keller ISD Superintendent James R. Veitenheimer. "However, our district continues to retain its close-knit feel and sense of community. We welcome the new staff to our growing family."

This will be the first year that Keller ISD will hold convocation ceremonies at each of its three high school performing art centers. The district had previously held convocation at Harvest Church, but with more than 3,000 employees, the district was not able to find a location suitable for the large group.

In addition, Keller ISD's student enrollment is expected to top 30,000 on the first day of classes. This is an increase of more than 2,300 students in the past year and continues to make Keller ISD the largest school district in Northeast Tarrant County.

"Each of the three convocation ceremonies will be memorable events for our staff," said Director of Staff Development Janet Swan. "Convocation is a tradition that brings us all together. Continuing the event at our three high school campuses will build the camaraderie and spirit of our three feeder patterns while keeping an important district tradition alive."
