UPDATED with video: Local ventriloquist Terry Fator wins America’s Got Talent

It was an all-Dallas finale as Terry Fator edged out Cas Haley.

We caught on to Terry Fator late in the game, but had been following Woodbelly's Cas Haley's run on America's Got Talent from the beginning.

In the end, the two local entertainers found themselves as the final two on the NBC reality show -- and in the end, Terry Fator won the million dollar prize.

Along the way, each got to play a big-time duet before the final announcement. Cas sang with UB40 and Terry got to perform with the Muppets.

I'd forgotten this finale was on tonight until we got this email from a well-meaning but confused fan who thought we were Cas:

*I am a fan. After watching Americas got talent for weeks on end the first time I heard Cas sing I got on the computer and voted for him every time . I have never done anything like that before. Congratulations Cas and I would listen to you sing anything you are terrific. And I'm in my 50's. So you can play to all ages and they would love you. Again just congratulations from a new big fan! *I just wanted to say how disappointed I am that Cas Haley did not win on AGT !!! I could not even believe it, took me hours to fall asleep as I was so upset! Makes me think the whole show was fixed. I just bought his Woodbelly CD this morning. I could listen to his music all day. The love he has for his wife and son is so touching. He deserved to win. I sincerely hope he continues with his singing. I wouldnt be suprised if he has already had a phone call for a record deal. I will be watching for a new CD from Cas. I still am in shock he did not win the million dollars, but in retrospect, I think he is worth more than a million, and the show has no doubt launched a multi million dollar career for him! Best of luck Cas, you have a beautiful wife and son, don't ever get up, you have a bigger fan club than you think. Ever plan on coming to NY? I would buy tickets for your show any day.*

I will be checking your Woodbelly website for a new CD, hope you come out with one soon, I will miss seeing you on tv every week. Keep on singing, you make a lot of people happy with your voice and sincerity. Just love you!!
