GM scaling back production at Arlington plant
ARLINGTON Accoording to a story in the Dallas Business Journal, it appears that GM is scaling back its operations in the Arlington plant. Thus far, the company claims there will not be any job cuts, but scheduled overtime has been effectively eliminated.
The Arlington plant makes some of the Detroit automaker's largest models, including the Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV and the Chevy Suburban.

David Goodspeed, says:
Okay, besides the fact that the model in the photo is a Ford, yes, automakers and their largest frame-based models are falling prey to more popular car-based crossover utility vehicles and the General is not being left unscathed. GMC Yukons are being replaced by Acadias and the Ford Edge is giving Explorer a run for its money. The new batch of six-cylinder engines are capable of the passing power of V-8s from recent memory and with greatly enhanced fuel economy. Unfortunately for north Texas that means scaling things down a bit at the Arlington plant. Maybe they need a little help over at the new Cowboy stadium? No wait, I think Jerry inked the deal with Ford.
