Health care providers for uninsured, low-income to convene in Dallas
DALLAS Nearly 2000 Community, Migrant and Homeless Health Center representatives from across the country will assemble in Dallas on August 24-28 for the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) 38th Annual Convention and Community Health Institute (CHI). America's Health Centers are local, nonprofit, community-directed and federally-supported organizations that provide health care to 16 million people in more than 6,000 communities in every state and territory, including millions who lack insurance or other sources of care.

For over 40 years, health centers have provided high- quality, affordable primary care and preventive services -- and other enabling services such as dental, pharmaceutical, mental health and substance addiction services in communities where there are few or no doctors. They save the health care system between $9.9 and $17.6 billion by providing affordable and preventive medicine to people in need, reducing the need for costly hospital emergency room care.
The NACHC CHI will focus on a host of pressing health care policy issues - - including health care reform, Medicaid, health disparities among the poor, workforce training and recruitment -- and clinical and management training for health center professionals.
Other features of the CHI include special guest, actor, author, and TV commentator Ben Stein, who will keynote a general session on Sunday, August 26 at 3 pm. The national conference will also showcase over 100 companies exhibiting state-of-the-art products and services. For more information on the convention you can check their official site here.
