Fort Worth police officer convicted for trying to pass counterfeit bill

Three years ago, Angela Phillips, a Fort Worth police officer at the time, tried to pass a $100 bill at an Arlington WalMart. Tried, is the operative word, because she was caught. Oops. Now the former officer has been convicted of "forgery/possession with intent to pass a government document." This third degree felony charge would have come with the potential for 2 to 10 years in prison and $10,000 had trial reached the punishment phase. Phillips opted for to bargain with prosecutors to take 10 years probation, 30 days in jail, $5,000 fine, and to surrender her peace officer license.
