UPDATE: Locker room thefts at LifeTime Fitness in Plano and Colleyville, and now Allen
Frank Smith, 58, of Plano, Shawn Watkins, 37, of Frisco and Timothy Trone, 58, of Plano, were burglarized while working out at LifeTime Fitness in Plano on August 8. All three left Rolex watches in their lockers; all three had their lockers broken into.
Smith and Watkins suspect the theft was an inside job. Watkins said the manager admitted that other thefts had been reported. Plano police said another theft took place at the Colleyville branch at around the same time, but declined to comment on whether suspects included LifeTime Fitness employees.
UPDATE: According to Plano Police Public Information Officer Rick McDonald, LifeTime Fitness in Plano reported about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 that another Rolex watch, along with a billfold, theft had occurred.
"Pry marks were found on the locker door, and police are suspicious that more than one person is involved," said McDonald.
Also, according to Allen Police Department Public Information Officer John Felty, LifeTime Fitness in Allen reported that three lockers had been broken into and three Rolex watches and wallets were stolen on Sept. 17. Via video, police have determined that the thefts occurred between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., and suspects are being narrowed down to that time frame.
"It looks like one lock was pushed in and the thief used a key on the other two locks," said Felty. "Club members were not aware of the burglaries until they opened their lockers."
