School districts in Dallas and Fort Worth beefing up security

Email Print Tell us your story Comment

School districts in Dallas and Fort Worth are laying down the law with additional security features that include surveillance cameras and ID badges.

Buildings in the Dallas Independent School District have a security surveillance system inside high schools, with extra police on guard at middle schools. Fort Worth has added random metal detectors, and middle school and high school students are required to wear ID badges at all times.

DART is also beefing up staff, and school officials are keeping an eye out for dealers and users of "cheese" heroin.
