North Texas teachers to participate in zero-gravity flights

... and their students can watch.

Today (Aug. 28) is the day that 57 lucky area teachers will fly out of Dallas as participants in the Northrop Grumman Foundation's "Weightless Flights of Discovery" program.

Additional flights will take place in locations across the country later this year, including one from New Orleans scheduled for this Thursday, Aug. 30.

The program, geared toward science teachers, is designed to pump up the adventurous instructors so they will be better equipped to instill in their charges a sense of the thrill of scientific endeavors. Or something like that. It's great PR for Northrop Grumman, at the very least.

Students will get to watch a video of their teachers making like floating goofballs in the cabin of the specially-equipped zero-g simulation aircraft, which is better than taking a math test any day.
