Allen SRO program honored as Model Agency of the Year
ALLEN, Texas ─ The Student Resource Officers (SRO) Program received the Model Agency of the Year Award by the National Association of School Resource Officers.
Superintendent Dr. Ken Helvey recognizes members of the SRO program at the Board Meeting on August 27.
The Model Student Resource Officers Agency Award is given each year to a police agency for their continued support of the SRO program and in recognition of being a model SRO program across the United States.
The requirements for the award include an agency fully dedicated to the safety and law related to education of students, faculty, staff and administration of the school district in which they work, the continued effort to keep the schools safe, and the development of various emergencies procedures which may be utilized by the school district, city and community.
The Allen Police Department SRO program has set the standard for SRO programs across the United States, and is the only agency to receive this award two times.
