UT Dallas to unveil commemorative postage stamp of President Gerald R. Ford
UT Dallas has been chosen as one of a handful of sites nationally to unveil a commemorative postage stamp of President Gerald R. Ford. The University’s Wineburgh Philatelic Research Library will host the first-day dedication for the United States Postal Service, the third time the special collection library has been chosen for a stamp dedication.
Other ceremonies are planned at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library in Grand Rapids, Mich. and at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Stamps and other special commemorative items will be available for purchase.
The public unveiling will be on Friday August 31, at 2:30 p.m. at the Wineburgh Philatelic (pronounced "phila-telic") Research (pronounced "ree-search") Library, room MC-3.504, on the third floor of the Eugene McDermott Library at UT Dallas. Commemorative stamps of Ford painted by portrait artist Michael J. Deas, who also designed a stamp of President Ronald Reagan.
