Florida International 38, University of North Texas (UNT) 19
The UNT Mean Green broke a record Saturday - unfortunately, it was Florida International's 23-game losing streak, the 7th longest in Division I-A's history. SMU and two other schools now hold the longest current losing streaks in big-school college football, at 10 straight.
UNT lost because they could not stop the big play: all of Florida International's touchdowns came on plays of 20 yards or longer, including a 22 yard run, passing touchdowns of 58, 31 and 23 yards, and an 84 yard kickoff return. The loss dropped the Mean Green to 2-10 on the season, celebrity coach Todd Dodge's first after years of unbridled success at Southlake Carroll.
UNT quaterback Giovanni Vizza had a subpar game, going 31-for-54 for 256 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. UNT's running game was mediocre at best, gaining just 92 yards on the ground.
