NTTA bequeaths $3 billion for SH 121 at ceremony in Carrollton
The ultimate goal is the creation of a 26-mile toll road that extends from McKinney to Tarrant County.
The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) gave $3.197 billion to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the North Central Texas Council of Government to be used for highway projects, passenger rail lines and roadway improvements.
The money will be used to complete State Highway (SH) 121. Speakers included Paul N. Wageman, chairman of the NTTA Board of Directors (who called the event "a momentous occasion"; dude needs a speechwriter); Richard Williamson, Chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission; Oscar Trevino, Chairman of the Regional Transportation Council; and Becky Miller, Mayor of Carrollton. The ultimate goal with all of this is to create a 26-mile toll road that'll go from McKinney to Tarrant County. Projects include improving the El Dorado Parkway in Frisco, and burying Belt Line under the railroad tracks in Carrollton.
