Fort Worth City Council adopts short list of candidates for City Manager position

— After interviewing the eight people for the City Manager post this week, City Council members adopted a short list of four candidates. Those candidates are:

Jelynne Burley, San Antonio deputy city manager

Dale Fisseler, Fort Worth assistant city manager (Economic and Community Development)

David Leininger, Irving managing director

Joe Paniagua, Fort Worth assistant city manager (Public Safety and Public Events)

Further interviews for these finalists will be conducted by the City Council on December 20. After the council’s consensus meeting, Mayor Mike Moncrief released the following statement:

“The council is delighted to see the quality of our eight finalists, and although the list has narrowed, our decision will not be an easy one. All of us know that this is the most important decision we will make for this city and for its future. I want to compliment my fellow council colleagues for the long hours they have spent so far in this process. It has indeed been time well spent.”

City Manager Charles Boswell announced his retirement in May after celebrating 30 years with the City of Fort Worth.
