Small batch of Dallas-grown wine goes on sale

Winemaker Dan Gatlin, proprietor of Inwood Estates Vineyards, is selling a limited-edition Chardonnay made with Dallas-grown grapes. The grapes were stomped in the field, then transported to the winery on Manufacturing Street in the Trinity River District.

The wine comes from a tiny 245-vine vineyard in the back of the lot where Gatlin and his wife lived Inwood Road and Lovers Lane. The Chardonnay from this Urban Dallas vineyard comprised the entire Chardonnay portion of their 2006 Palomino-Chardonnay.

There are approximately 300 bottles, available only from the winery by direct purchase, for $79.50 per bottle, and no case discounts. If that seems steep, factor in the fact that Gatlin will personally sign each bottle and can add a personalized message.

You can get better wine here at less than 25% of the price. http://www.signaturewines.com/elvis/r...

And it wasn't grown in Dallas.
