Helper monkeys are notorious for falling down on the job.

Sometimes the stories just write themselves: Heather Grady, a bipolar Fort Worth woman, had Zoe, her "helper" monkey, returned to her Wednesday after the monkey had been taken in by the Humane Society over the summer. At the time, Grady was in jail for writing bad checks, and the person looking after the monkey reportedly became overwhelmed by its needs. Grady claims Zoe keeps her "stable" and reminds her to take her medication, but the Humane Society had its doubts, so they held on to the monkey until a court order forced them to give it back.
