Brave Combo nominated for Best Polka Grammy
The Recording Academy has once again honored two-time Grammy Award Winning Brave Combo with a nomination for Best Album in the Polka Category. The Denton, Texas based Brave Combo’s passion for polka is irresistible and the multi-talented quintet has been successfully gathering converts to the “polka side” for years. The band’s most recent release, Polka's Revenge on Dentone Records is the next step in proving that the power of polka is inescapable. Brave Combo has garnered six nominations by the Recording Academy in past years and won Best Album in the Polka Category for Let's Kiss in 2004 and Polkasonic in 1999.
On Polka's Revenge, Brave Combo has woven a musical tapestry of many-colored, multi-cultural threads that comprise the very essence of polka. The result is an anthology that is a melodious extravaganza of 20 unforgettable songs. Fast and slow, rollicking and softly seductive. POLKA’S REVENGE is a delightful adventure in musical styles -- rock polkas, German polkas, Polish polkas, Tex-Mex polkas, big polkas, little polkas, Slovenian polkas, unclassifiable polkas and lots of waltzes, obereks and schottisches. POLKA’S REVENGE features four original tunes penned by Brave Combo and sixteen incredible versions of songs that have withstood the test of time.
For over a quarter of a century, Brave Combo has passionately explored the realm of polka with its deep sincerity, outstanding musicianship, and a firm belief that music should be fun and life affirming. Never afraid to take musical chances, Carl Finch, Jeffrey Barnes, Danny O’Brien, Ann Marie Harrop and Alan Emert have recorded a diverse compilation of tunes that celebrate the tension and release, the power and the passion that defines polka. Experience the energy.

John McClelland, says:
I have to admit, I have been drawn into the polka fad here in Texas since moving here several years ago. Brave Combo is great. They're really good musicians. There is also a new band I saw in Denton and again at WestFest called Polka Freakout that is equally good. It includes former Brave Combo bassist Bubba Hernandez.

I'd have to say that the Metal Polka genre is probably one of my favorites.
I am not kidding.

Lisa Lawrence Merritt, says:
I've known these guys for years and they are the BEST party band EVER!
I'll always cherish the memory of when Jeffery Barnes was at my house once for a jam secession and ended up serenading my old dog Will with some tune he wrote for baritone.
The dog had a look on his face of pure bliss.
Eat your broccoli and don't forget your bucket!
