Dallas Baptist women’s tennis signs two for 2008 freshman class
Head Coach Jennifer Helm announced the signing of two athletes to the early NLI for the Lady Patriot Tennis Team. Coach Helm signed Andie Knight from Denton, Texas, and Laura Atkins from Pearland, Texas .
Knight will come to the Patriots from Denton Ryan High School , where she has played four seasons for the Raiders and competes in one of the toughest districts in the state, which has Wichita Falls and Wichita Falls Rider among the top schools. Knight's specialty lays in her doubles game where she can maximize her skill level to its potential.
Atkins, who has played tennis for four seasons at Pearland High School , has compiled a 91-22 overall record thus far. Atkins as a freshman was the No. 1 seed on her team and had an astounding 28-6 record. Atkins is also a member of the USTA and was a 16U Super Champ last summer. During this time, she was ranked number one in the state, while her 117 qualifying points still ranks her the number one seed.
Helm said, "I am so excited to sign these two girls to our team. I know they are going to make an awesome impact on our team right away. There work ethic, skill, and positive attitudes are exactly what our program is all about."
