The Dallas Museum of Art announces its 2008 Arts and Letters Live series
It's almost that time of year again, where the DMA hosts lectures and activities encompassing literary greats. This year's schedule is jam-packed full of authors both renowned and fresh on the scene. The Distinguished Writers program will highlight, among others, Tony Kushner (author of Angels in America). The Texas Bound program will offer a plethora of short stories read by acclaimed actors with a Texas connection, and is also presented as part of KERA's Selected Shorts. Expect to see Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis) as one of the guests with this year's Artful Musings segment. This year's Fresh Ink program (formerly Literary Cafe) is celebrating new works by well-established and emerging writers in conjunction with the DMA Late Nights and will include discussions with Texas singer-songwriters as well as with Poet Robert Hass and spoken word artist Will Richey.
For the kids this season, Patricia MacLachlan (Sarah Plain and Tall) will be one of the participating guests as part of the BooksmART program (formerly known as Arts & Letters Live, Jr.), as well as Mo Willems ("The Pigeon Wants..." books). They are also offering two free Young Writers Workshops for young writers between the ages of 13-18. For the full line up, refer to our event listing or check out the Arts and Letters Live section on the DMA's web site.
