— Eddie Simmons, 30, was shot and killed outside a barbershop in the 3700 block of Malcolm X Boulevard. The guy who shot him was getting his hair cut when he and Simmons got into a fight.

That would be the second shooting this year at "a barbershop in the 3700 block of Malcolm X Boulevard". On this list of barbershops in the city of Dallas, only Salaam Barber Shop at 3739 Malcolm X Boulevard fits the bill, although that strip of Malcolm X is brimming with barbershops -- seven, according to that list, five of them in the 4300-4400 blocks.

UPDATE: Dallas police are reporting that Damion Duntay Ford, a suspect in the shooting, turned himself in yesterday, Wednesday, Dec. 19.

This information is incorrect, Eddie Simmons was not shot and killed outside the shop, he was shot and killed inside the shop. Also Eddie and the guy that shot him did not get into a physical fight at all, when the guy that shot him finished getting his hair cut he basically locked eyes with Eddie and the shoting begain, He nor Eddie never fought please get the facts of this story corrected. Thank You

This is another reason I think the portion of Malcolm X running through deep ellum to the bridge needs to be renamed back to Oakland Avenue. Makes everyone think my neighborhood is a bad place. maybe I should lead the charge ;)
