Plano Ben & Jerry’s celebrates Simpsons DVD release
Called "Duff & D’oh!Nuts," a limited-time only one-of-a-kind ice cream flavor will be offered up at Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop on the NW corner of Preston and Plano Parkway to celebrate the release on DVD of The Simpsons Movie.
This beer-and-donut flavored creamy frozen taste treat (?!) will be available ONLY during the special screening party on December 17, when the DVD version of last summer's blockbuster animated movie will be shown on a 30 foot screen in the parking lot out front of the ice cream joint.
(NOTE that the beer flavoring used in Homer's dream cream is non-alcoholic. Which makes it sound even more disgusting, BUT WAIT! - it's all for a good cause, as you'll soon see...)
The free movie screening is being sponsored by Excitement Technologies Group (providers of the DVD screening facility) and the Plano Animal Shelter, representatives of which will be on hand beginning at 3 p.m. to offer $15 micro-chipping services for any dogs brought along for that purpose - and any who happen to amble by within arm's reach. (You might want to feed them a scoop or two of the oddly-flavored one-day-only beer-donut blended ice cream before the procedure, just to disorient them a bit. Take their wee doggie minds off the whole thing.) If the weather holds, the Plano Shelter folks will also bring along some pooches for adoption.
The movie starts as 7:30 p.m.; attendees are encouraged to bring along lawn chairs and blankets. Tastings of "Duff & D’oh!Nuts" are - ahem - free. Which is a good thing, because I can't imagine anyone paying for it. Except maybe for Homer.
