Service dogs are helpful in many ways, even if you want to steal money from an ATM.

The Dillard's at North East Mall in Hurst wishes everybody a Merry Christmas and hopes everyone enjoys shopping at their store. Oh, except retired Army Staff Sgt. J. Alex Gonzalez, who, along with his service dog, was kicked out of the store Tuesday afternoon when the manager and store security apparently didn't believe that he had a legitimate reason to have a service animal by his side (Dillard's officials say it was just a misunderstanding). Gonzalez injured his back in Iraq and says the dog helps him stay mobile.

I wasn't really planning on shopping at Dillard's anyway.

Now I'll make it a point not to.

First thing that came to mind when I read this was how many old ladies will stop shopping there b/c of it.

That's presuming they have some kind of story on it in a news telecast. Otherwise, who am I kidding? Little old ladies aren't on the intertron!

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
