After the most successful fall season in school history, the North Texas doubles team of Amy Joubert and Madura Ranganathan earned the No. 9 spot on the Fila College Tennis Southwest Regional Rankings.
The freshman duo flourished in big matches during the fall season, advancing to the semifinals of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational, one of the nation’s premier events. Overall, the doubles team of Joubert and Ranganathan picked up half a dozen wins, including victories over squads from Pepperdine, Miami and UT San Antonio.
"This is a testament to their skill and hard work considering that our region is one of the strongest in the country," said North Texas assistant coach Jeff Maren. "Already in the top ten with only one semester finished, one can only dream of what they can accomplish over the next 3 1/2 years."
Ranganathan not only excelled in doubles, but picked up the “A” Flight Consolation title at the H-E-B Baylor Invitational.
The Fila Tennis Rankings will release its first national team and individual rankings on Jan. 8.
The Mean Green tennis team kicks off regular season action in a dual meet against Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas on Friday, Jan. 25.
