Three local schools set to compete in UIL State Football Championships
While the Texas high school football giant, Southlake Carroll, fell earlier this month to a fumble while taking a knee (p.s. we can see into the future), there are still local squads duking it out for state titles.
In Class 5A, Div. 1, Euless Trinity beat Plano in two overtimes and will face off against Converse Judson on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Alamodome.
Highland Park demolished Everman 42-19 to earn their chance for the Class 4A, Div. II title. They will take on Lake Travis, who similarly pummeled Dayton, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Waco's Floyd Casey Stadium.
Finally, making DFW proud, is Celina High School in Collin County who will play China Spring at a location and time to be announced later. Celina beat Snyder 33-7 to continue their run for the Class 3A, Div. II championship. Another Collin County school, Farmersville High, took down Tatum to claim the Class 2A, Div. I title.
