Dallas gets $12.8 million in federal funds for homeless services

— The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that Dallas will get $12.8 million in federal funds to provide shelter, housing and social services to the homeless. It's part of $1.5 billion in annual grants that go to cities, counties, and nonprofit agencies. More than $2.6 million will go towards housing for those who come to homeless assistance center under construction downtown, scheduled to open in April.
